When I was in junior high, my sociopathic next door neighbor and I would ride our bikes downtown nearly every single day to get ourselves a bowl of that something wonderful: frozen yogurt. I could always afford it because I babysat, but I can remember her digging through her stepfather's change to put together enough quarters to cover a serving. (With topping of course -- they kept a bowl of cold Reeses Peanut Butter Cup pieces that we always chose.)
I remember getting yogurt with my cousin the few times we were in Bakersfield at a place that I think was called CeCe's. A favorite memory there would be when her younger brother was getting on my nerves, and I called him stupid, and my cousin immediately ratted me out. "Moooom, Merrie just called T stupid!" Brat.
As I've gotten older I've shied away from frozen yogurt. Partly for living in a small town without options, and partly for the Baskin Robbins that has my favorite ice cream ever made. (You won't be shocked that it's Chocolate Peanut Butter, will you?)
This brings us to last weekend.
The kids and I were in the big city to the north of us for my dear friend's graduation. We ended up walking around the local mall and getting some random lunch, when it occurred to me that there was a frozen yogurt shop somewhere in town that my kids had told me about recently. My brother/their uncle had taken them and they couldn't stop telling me about the wonder of this place where you self serve any flavor and topping you want. (WHY didn't I think of that? I could have been the frozen yogurt queen if I had just thought of that!)
Anyway, we google mapped the nearest location, and off we went.
Welcome to Yogurt Land!
It's amazing. UH. MAY. ZING!
It's a perfect world of self serve yogurt with all the toppings you can think of, including fresh fruit! I swear, I'm not telling you this because they pay me or are giving me free yogurt or any such thing. I am simply mezmerized and a little bit in love.
I've tried a few flavors -- we all like the dutch chocolate, and Noelle loves the peanut butter. As for me? My heart belongs to this one.
Devil's Food Cupcake Batter
It's delicious. And I can't wait to go back for more.
In the mean time, the kids and I were delighted to discover the next day later that our local ice cream shop has frozen yogurt...with many flavors...and self serve toppings! Did I mention it's walking distance from our house? And that they have a red velvet cake batter flavor?
Yeah, I think the warm weather tonight warrants a walk.

I love those places! My favorite toppings: hot fudge, caramel and pecans. Yum!
