I was contacted recently by the folks at Jumpstart and offered the opportunity to review a copy of their new Family Fitness game for the Wii. I jumped at the chance for two reasons -- we love Jumpstart games at our house (Charlie started out on their preschool games oh so many years ago), and we love the Wii at our house! I figured the combination of the two was a perfect fit for us.
"As you know, for years, JumpStart has been creating the best learning games for kids. Now, with Get Moving Family Fitness, JumpStart is making fitness fun too! Discover the ultimate family sports game with fitness expert and mom of 4, Brooke Burke. With more than 15 sports challenges in 11 exotic arenas, Get Moving is the fun, new way to keep your family active!
Some key features in our new Wii game make it all the more exciting! You can design your own character to race and play, build customized routines for extra challenge, compete head to head or play solo, play underwater, on a farm, in Egypt of 8 other exotic locations, and access expert tips for more ways to stay healthy!"
When you first get started you get to create your character, which can be fun since the options are a little wilder and different from the standard Mii. We each tried out a different set of games and each had some success and some failures.
Charlie's favorite was the Football Tire Run. Every time he played he beat his last score and felt great about it.
Another hit with Charlie was the running. With all the backgrounds to choose from, he did something different every time and got a kick out of two player mode.
I tried out the pinball machine and didn't do too badly. Then Charlie swooped in and wiped my scores OUT.
Once I figured out Volleyball bumping, I wasn't bad at it. I still hold the high score for THAT one!
One game that was not a success with us was shooting hoops at Basketball. Noelle tried and failed, and then even I tried and failed. Neither of us was able to figure out how best to aim, but perhaps we're just not basketball savvy at our house.
Jumpstart's Get Moving Family Fitness game is available in stores now, having come out on June 15th, and is sold for $29.99. It's rated E for Everyone with Comic Mischief by the ESRB.
I'm happy to share that one lucky winner gets to receive a copy of this game for the Wii!

I think it just looks plain fun for kids! :) But I love that each discovery world has 70 learning lessons and skills that kids learn and need to do to be able to move through each level! :)

I think the Adventure Island looks cool and I think my 6 yr old and 5 yr old would love that game.
The games look pretty cool
I am already a follower of your blog, but I did put a mention and a link to your blog on my post today, about coming over to check you out and the giveaway. Well not really check you out, now that would be rude, but to check your blog out.
I think this game sounds good, the kids wouldn't realize it was exercise!
I don't tweet or blog... just seems wrong that I don't get another entry! :-)
