This was one of the most non-productive weekends of my life. We lazed about as if there was nothing in the world to worry about. We watched movies, napped, ate pizza and chicken, played games and basically re-enacted the life of a slug. There were two events to leave the house for. One was our son's first flag football game, at which, he refused to play and was a grump the entire time. Lots of fun in 100' weather! We came home feeling defeated and sunburned. We'll try again next weekend, and if we get the same results, I think we'll throw in the towel on flag football. At least his Karate class is a hit! That's Kuh-Rah-Tay with Unagi, to you Friends fans.
The other event that led to my actual departure from slughood was an outing to Target. Yes, I easily spent $148 on summer clothes for the kids, more organizing baskets, sandals for me and other various unimportant necessities. (That's a Target oxymoron.)

A fun highlight is that our daughter has really taken to writing us "notes." What this actually entails is a piece of paper with lots of squiggly lines, and two words repeated often: "Mom" and her name. (The two words she knows how to write.) Then she comes to sit with us and reads them aloud. The one sentence that manages to be in every note she writes to me? "Mom, I love you because you are beautiful, and I love you no matter what." Sometimes it's because I'm beautiful in a dress...sometimes it's all about how much I love her -- but no matter what, I'm beautiful. Ah, from the mouths of babes. Hey, I'll take it wherever I can get it!

We had the opposite weekend!
Those notes sound precious!!
Aren't lazy weekends the best?! We sat around in our lovely air conditioned house and read the weekend away. It was about 105 degrees here (or more), so there was no way we were heading outside!
Oh my goodness. I hear you on the Target oxymoron! I've been so busy, a sluggish weekend is in my dreams.
Sounds like my weekend 2 weeks ago. Directv had a free movie package weekend and I spent ALL day Friday watching movie, after movie, after movie...
I love the notes. When I picked up my kids from Spanish last week, the 5 year old told me I looked very pretty in Spanish! His first Spanish sentence since he learned "Tengo hambre" (I'm hungry). I'll take what I can get too!
